My new Accurascale Class 66 has just arrived, and I have to say — this model is an absolute triumph. From the moment you lift it out of the box, you can tell Accurascale have pushed the boundaries yet again.
🔍 Detail & Finish
The level of fidelity on this model is outstanding. Every grill, bolt, pipe and access panel is sharply defined, and the overall finish is crisp and beautifully applied. The livery is pin-sharp, with no fuzzy edges or overspray — exactly what you’d expect from a premium model, and Accurascale absolutely deliver.
🎨 Cab Detailing
The cab interior is one of the highlights. With a fitted driver and second man added, lights on, it really brings the locomotive to life. There’s something special about seeing a crewed cab rolling across the layout — it adds that extra touch of realism.
🔊 Sound & Performance
On the track, the Class 66 is silky smooth. Slow-speed control is superb right out of the box, and once you notch up the power, it glides along with real presence.
The factory-fitted sound is rich, weighty, and incredibly immersive. The engine notes, horn, fan sequences and flange squeal all blend to give a genuinely authentic driving experience. Perfect for those late-evening "just one more lap" running sessions!
⚙️ Build Quality
Weighty, solid and confidence-inspiring — it feels like a model built to last. Couplings, lighting and body fit are all excellent, and the model has that satisfying premium feel Accurascale have become known for.
🏁 Final Thoughts
The Accurascale Class 66 isn’t just good… it’s class-leading. Whether you’re a diesel fan, a GBRf follower, or simply someone who appreciates first-rate modelling, this is a locomotive that deserves a spot on your layout.
A superb blend of detail, performance, and realism — highly recommended from The Novice Railway Modeller.
