The ‘red revolution’ is slowly changing shade. 66167 is carrying the current vibrant house colours of owner DB. Testament to the quality of repaint back in 2019 the loco still looks fresh today and can be seen all across the network.

Our Class 66 model is based on the award winning ‘accura-standard’ platform, with all-wheel powered six-axle bogies, a powerful twin flywheel fitted motor and market leading electronics package.

Shed Loads Of Detail

Having obtained one of the Hattons original class 66’s, I have found some very practical improvements made to the tooling by Accurascale. It is certainly easier to remove the body without being terrified of breaking off any of the detail. Of course although well documented already, improvements have been made to the rotating axle ends which are part the class 66 American DNA. These have evidently been pressed on to a longer stub on the end of the 2mm axle and appear to be rock solid. Although it has taken a lot of effort to design in this feature in the first place (well done Hattons for giving it a go!), and for Accurascale to do the re tooling, it certainly is worth it when you see these beasts creeping past with a long steel train in tow.
As a fine scale modeller working in EM gauge, I am a little disappointed that no provision can be made for replacement drop in axles. These have of course been made available in EM and P4 for at least the Deltics and 37’s. Considering the the GM 66 is now pretty well the standard freight loco of choice in this country, it is going to appear on most modern image layouts, including an increasing number of fine scale layouts. We may be a minority, but we do feel it’s worth making the permanent way look as accurate as the new generation of highly detailed models that we are being presented with.
Having briefly mentioned this on Accurascale’s help chat I have been rightly reminded that it would be difficult to justify the cost involved in extra tooling.
As most of us working in the finer scales are pretty innovative, I have been working on my Hattons 66 with a good deal of success. Could I request of Accurascale that for the time being we could be given access to the little axle box end mouldings as a spare part please? I can see them being damaged or easily lost by anyone trying to re engineer those axles.
Otherwise as I already said, I am very pleased with my new addition. Well done everyone.
Yours, Nerdly, Keith Simons😂

Done it again

4th time I've bought a loco from them, was on the fence for ages about getting one then I caved and glad I did. Just need to get the rest of the CDAs for it to pull now

Excellent

Wonderful loco and well worth the wait for it's release. The loco ran well straight out of the box and after half an hours running in each direction the motor was barely audible at low speeds. I haven't done any serious load testing yet although everything I have put behind it has been easily moved. The only thing I have found confusing is the light cluster switches, there is a table which explains how they work although I would have preferred a set of diagrams for clarity. However that is the only thing that I have to complain about as the loco is in every way worth the money and wait. Another great job by the people of Accurascale!

Best 66 OO model

Based on the Hattons model but with significant improvements such as those axle boxes, easier access for decoder and easier body removal. The Accurascale is a significant weight and has plenty of pulling power. Paintwork is also good. I also have the sound fitted version of this model though not the DB version. The sound has a good base tone and excellent sound file with a good range of options.

Accurascale Class 66

First impressions looks a very nice locomotive, fully detailed and a good heavy loco. Awaiting from yourselves confirmation for an appropriate DCC decoder. You haven't got any in at the moment. Hopefully you will advise when you have them

This really is the real deal

I'm only new and back in the modeling after 25 years or so out and watching what Accurascale are doing with all of their models, the incredible detail, mechanics and features are mindblowing. They are the standout manufacturer right now, great products, prices and support. You really are putting all the other money grabbing manufacturers to shame as they cannot even give the same product quality at double the price.

The new lifetime warranty is also market leading and innovative and hopefully won't be required.

For the price I should have bought more as the only draw back is available units which hopefully will expand in time.

Accurascale, you've smashed it out of the park yet again.

Would like another run of hoppers npw to support the few I've already bought in preparation so it can look like a full train.

I bought the DCC ready version and can't wait to see what it can do with all the functions.
