March depot's 37140 was one of the first Class 37s to gain the high visibility headlight, being so fitted in mid-1986. It also gained an orange cantrail stripe later the same year before it moved back to Stratford in May 1987. Although allocated to East Anglian infrastructure duties it was no stranger to freight or passenger work, regularly featuring on the summer dated Norwich-Gt Yarmouth legs of services from London, the Midlands and the North East. The Accurascale model replicates the locomotive's late 1980s and early 1990s condition with headboard clips and standard lamp irons and when embellished with 'cockney sparrow' mascot logo and a yellow DCE flash under the secondman's cab windows. 37140 was a late survivor in BR blue, along with East London-based colleagues 37216 and 37219, eventually swapping its 'corporate image' for civil engineer's 'Dutch' in October 1991.

Multiple body and nose slides to accurately represent almost every member of the class, including three variations of cantrail grille: early EE (for D6700-D6704), later EE and RSH

Separately applied etched metal and high fidelity plastic detail parts, including grab handles, aerials, steps, wipers, nameplates, crests and more.

Etched metal door kickplates (where applicable), ‘frost’ grille (where applicable) & super fine etched metal roof grille

Scale width wire handrails

Turned brass roof-mounted horns on centre headcode examples

Full underbody tank detail with brackets and pipework

Bogies feature separate footsteps, etched footsteps, brake cylinders, speed recorder, end brake rigging and very fine brake chain

Brake blocks on trucks (bogies) in line with wheels (can be moved for EM/P4 gauges)

Numerous other locomotive-specific details yet to be revealed!

RP25-110 profile OO gauge wheels with fine scale ‘drop in’ EM (18.2mm gauge) and P4 (18.83mm gauge) wheels available separately

Accurate high-fidelity miniature snowploughs

Fully sprung metal buffers, extra-fine factory-installed pipework and screw couplings

Correct height mini-tension-lock couplers with NEM socket as well as a fully detailed bufferbeam

Every model includes PowerPack / Backup Power Capacitor Bank for up to ten seconds of power free running, flicker free lighting and continuous sound

Whats not to love about a BR Blue class 37, and this model doesn't disappoint. Well made with superb decoration and a smooth runner. Another 1st class model.

Another cracking model from the Accurascale boys

Well, I ummed and aahed enough over this one, but eventually succumbed to the inevitable. A blue centre headcode tractor was always going to be hard to resist! Not that I'd necessarily choose a headlight fitted Eastern Region 37 with orange cantrail stripes, but ho hum (subtle hint). Nevertheless this loco in this very condition was sampled on a West Anglia Gala day from Seven Sisters to Stratford (via Temple Mills if memory serves), which makes it excusable. Enough has been said about the excellent detailing and top notch performance of AS locos, this example is no exception to the rule. An interesting change, following my comment on the protective packing on another recent purchase, the boxes now come with protective 'shoe box' ends which are cardboard so reducing waste and ensuring all round protection of the outer box. It's great to see that the team pays attention to such issues. On that note, congrats on the new addition to the Burke household. Hope you're getting some sleep, Fran, YNWA!!!
