Ahead of the landmark Toton open day in August 1998 there was furious activity behind the scenes at English Welsh & Scottish Railway as the company went hell for leather to show off a more enthusiast-friendly outlook with range of exhibits wearing the Wisconsin Central-inspired maroon and gold paint scheme. One of the highlights of the event was Bescot's 31466, that wore its new EWS livery well despite being built way back in 1959! A regular on freight and infrastructure work, it moved to Old Oak Common in May 1999 before finally being stored at the start of 2001. Happily it was acquired for preservation in 2007 by the Dean Forest Diesel Association and soon put back into service, the group gaining permission to retain the locomotive in EWS colours. Its currently based at the Severn Valley Railway where it sees regular use.

Another lovely Class 31 from Accurascale. Only slight problem was I had to buy sound fitted as DCC ready was all sold out! But I wanted one......

Another stunning locomotive, after travelling behind the 1to1 scale version on the Seven Valley with my dad this was one I really wanted in my collection. I must thank the team in customer service's as they were really helpful and ultra fast in responding. After missing the per order I followed there advice and was able to acquire one.

Beautifully refined model.

I didn’t know i needed or wanted a class 31 in my collection until i seen these models in the flesh. They are beautifully made and detailed. The sound functions and how they marry up with the performance of the model gives a real playability/drivability. Love it!

EWS 31466

Finely detailed model with exquisite livery application that accurately matches the real loco as seen at the 1998 Toton open day. Extremely smooth runner out of the box right down to a crawl with characteristic slow acceleration of the prototype, enhanced by the fantastic sound project. More robust than earlier Accurascale locos with no loose pieces in the box, however a couple of LEDs on one cab didn’t work initially, possibly due to an intermittent contact.

I was so impressed with the Regional Railways version, that I went for this! It's a stunning model with a wealth of detail, superb livery application and fabulous sound. Well done Accurascale!
