Ruston 245033, built new for the Tottenham & District Gas Company, was delivered to their Tottenham Gasworks site on 2 October 1947. Liveried in the company’s distinctive ‘Panhard Red’, the locomotive was the first diesel to be used at the site and remained there until the end of coal carbonisation in March 1972, when rail traffic at the site ceased. No.12 was finally sold for scrap in 1974.

The little Ruston 88 is a beautiful model. It runs superbly at all speeds with a very impressive crawl, and the sound file is excellent - better than many of my other locos. The finish is of a high standard and the removable cab roof means that adding a driver is easy. I use the couplings as supplied and have it permanently attached to a shunter's truck which has the Dingham coupling attached to the free end. All in all I can find no criticism, which is rare for me!
